some idols straight up can’t sing and honestly thats so crazy for someone who releases music. and idc if they’re really good dancers or have really good stage presence, if you’re going to be releasing songs you need to have at least some decent vocal technique. also i don’t find a lot of (recent) main vocalists that impressive singers tbh.
and idk how much of a hot take this is but sometimes it’s hard to understand how big jennie is when her performances are sometimes just so bad. ofcourse it’s partly the blackpink branding and i can admit her solo music is quite good i really enjoyed her first album. i honestly can’t get over that one blackpink performance at a concert were she just straight up stops dancing because she has some problem with her mic or inear. i don’t even do anything related with performance and even i know that’s a pretty standard “rule” to just keep going if something goes wrong otherwise it will be so obvious to the audience. it’s kind of crazy that’s she keeps getting away with it. jennie obviously has a very dedicated fanbase who defend her on anything, but idk it gets to a point
